October 11th will kick off the San Jose WordCamp in Costa Rica! GreenGeeks is excited to return to Costa Rica after last year’s excellent event. Be sure to come by our booth and say hi to Ericka, Marco, and Alex and visit our booth.
What Kind of Events Will Be At WordCamp?
Naturally, there will be a variety of events you can attend to help improve your understanding of the WordPress platform and ultimately, help improve your website. The first day is dedicated to contributors with the second day hosting events.
You can view the full event schedule here, but here are some of the highlights:
- How to speak in the language of your audience?
Visitors from around the world can access your website. While translation tools have made it easier for them to view content from other languages, it may be prudent to learn what other languages your site should be translated into. Join Melissa Benach and learn how to make your content more accessible to a wider language. - A Journey from Page Builders to Blocks in WordPress
Many users approach page design differently in WordPress. Some choose to use Page Builders, while others stick to the Gutenberg Editor blocks. In either case, you can build an awesome website. Join Joe A Simpson Jr to learn if your approach to page building is outdated and learn how to optimize your process to build better pages faster. - Building Websites Google Loves: Best Practices for Developers
While we want to create a website that helps visitors, much of our development time is dedicated to optimizing our website for Google. Doing so helps increase the visibility of your site in search results, but it isn’t intuitive. However, with the help of Melissa De Ona, you can learn what it takes and what you can change to get better results.
That’s just a small taste of what you can expect from WordCamp San Jose. Once all of the events are over, the event will wrap up with the after-party that runs all the way to midnight. So be sure to attend and have some fun!
Be Sure to Check Out San Jose
While there is a lot to do at the San Jose WordCamp, be sure to set aside some time to explore the city and experience what it has to offer. Here are some interesting locations you may want to explore during your trip:
- Visit the Gold Museum
Perhaps one of the most interesting destinations you can visit in the San Jose area is the Gold Museum. Here you can view a collection of artifacts from the indigenous people of Costa Rica in the Pre-Columbian period. There are over 600 pieces to view and appreciate. You can also sign up for a tour to learn even more about the history. - San Jose Central Market (Mercado Central)
One of the best ways to understand a different culture is to explore their stores. And when it comes to exploring stores there is no better option than visiting the San Jose Central Market or Mercado Central. Here you will find dozens of stalls selling local produce like coffee beans, to hand-crafted clothes that make excellent souvenirs. - Arenal Volcano National Park
If you’re willing to do just a bit of traveling, consider visiting the Arenal Volcano National Park. Here you can take a tour of the 5,437-foot volcano, which has been dormant since 2010. It has several hiking trails, hot springs, and even bird-watching areas for you to enjoy. As such, there is something for everyone when taking a trip to the Arenal Volcano National Park.
This is only a small portion of what you can do in San Jose during your stay. If I were you, I might consider booking a few extra days to enjoy the city and take in all of the sights.
Enjoy WordCamp San Jose!
WordCamp San Jose is going to be a great event, so be sure to look forward to it. And make sure to visit our booth and say hi to our crew. Ericka, Marco, and Alex are really looking forward to meeting you.
I would also like to thank the event organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees for making WordCamp events possible in the first place. WordPress is such an excellent platform and the best part about it is the community that supports it.
